Pudding Chomeur



Pouding Chomeur ( Poor man's Pudding)

Cake

1 1/2 cup of flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk


Maple Sauce

1 cup maple syrup
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup boiling water
1/4 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla extract ( halal of course Image)


Instructions;

preheat oven to 325 degrees farenheit

Sift flour and baking powder together ina bowl. Put aside

In a bowl, whip butter and sugar together. then gradually add milk and flour into the mixture alternatly.

Pour mixture into a 13x9 inch pan( greased). put aside

In a pot put all ingredients for the sause and bring to boil for 2 minutes then pour over the mixture. DO NOT MIX.

Bake in oven @ 325 degrees fareneit for 45 mins Image

* best served with vanilla ice cream when it's still hot.

Salaam... Looks gorgeous. What happens... is it like choccy oud and the sauce goes to the bottom of the dish and the cake rises above it?

I can't stand maple syrup though... d'you think I could justuse Tate & Lyle Golden syrup?

well I use the usual, aunt Jemima kind.. any imitation seems to work.
and ya..the sauce stays at bottom and thickens a bit...and cake floats on top. REALLY good with vanilla ice cream and best eaten warm. yum yum!!
